Supporting local businesses to understand how to attract and recruit graduate talent – getting the best from those individuals and offering progression and development in a cost-effective way. The event is aimed at all Leicester businesses – the event will give Leicester employers the opportunity to gain greater visibility and brand exposure among the city’s 50,000-strong student population.
The event will present and discuss examples of Leicester businesses who have successfully recruited local graduates, and the benefits graduates have brought to their business.
Participants will have the opportunity to discuss the challenge of skills gaps and how to quickly find students and graduates with the skills their business needs.
This event is part of ‘Retaining graduate talent in Leicester’, a three-way partnership between Leicester City Council, De Montfort University and the University of Leicester.
Recruiting students and graduates brings higher level skills, workforce diversity and fresh ideas into businesses. Cities with higher shares of working graduates are seen to thrive economically.
However, a 2019 study has shown that Leicester’s students and graduates are not aware of the vast range of businesses operating out of the city and county. Students have said they would love to stay here to work and live after graduation, but aren’t aware of accessible opportunities.
